Researchers from the Swiss Greenfjord research consortium (fjord ecosystems monitoring in South Greenland) will install sensors in fjords and glaciers near Narsaq.

We are looking at the glaciers and their influence onto and interaction with the fjord. In order to understand how the fjord conditions change, we need to understand how glaciers and iceberg production of the ice sheet change. Further, we would like to monitor and understand how Narsaq Brae, a small glacier in the mountains behind Narsaq, changes and why and how this influences the water availability of its melt water stream that flows towards Narsaq.
