Scientists deployed innovative fiber optics in Greenland

As part of the GreenFjord project, piloted by the professor. Julia Schmale at EPFL, scientists have successfully tested a new fiber optic technology to measure the dynamics of a glacier fjord located in southern Greenland. This cable allowed them to document one of the key processes accelerating glacial mass loss and threatening the stability of ice caps, with consequences for global ocean currents and local ecosystems. https://actu.epfl.ch/news/scientists-deployed-an-innovative-fiber-optics-in-/
