Value creation, contestation, and power relations in rare earth element mining in South Greenland

Bjørk Tørnqvist returned to NIRS for her second field trip as part of her PhD project "Value creation, contestation, and power relations in rare earth element mining in South Greenland" at Roskilde University (RUC) and Ilisimatusarfik (University of Greenland). Her PhD research looks at social and economic value, and how these might work together or clash when it comes to mining. She is hoping that her research will help shine a light on how the mining companies are operating (Energy Transition minerals and Tanbreez) and how that is experienced in places like Narsaq and Qaqortoq.
