This year our NAARCA partner, Artica Svalbard marks its 10th anniversary. Founded on the belief that art and culture can open new ways of seeing, challenge perspectives and create space for dialogue, Artica works within an Arctic region undergoing political, environmental and social change. For ARTICA's anniversary publication Artica Writings,
Lise Autogena convened a discussion with ARCTICA director Lotte Hetherington and Director of Skaftfeel Art Center in Iceland, Celia Harrison. This anniversary edition of Artica Writings reflects a decade shaped by residencies, encounters and collaborations. The publication gathers essays, poems, letters, artworks and a recorded conversation. Its contributors approach questions of place, community, artistic practice and how knowledge is made from different perspectives. Several works appear in their writers’ own languages—French, Korean, Tenyidie, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish—reflecting the linguistic breadth of Artica’s community.
